Memorial Bedum Town Hall

The memorial window in the town hall of Bedum consists of two stained glass windows. A plaque has been placed near the windows. The names are listed in alphabetical order on the plaque
of 46 war victims from Bedum.

The memorial window symbolically portrays the misery of the occupation and the joy of liberation. In the left window, the black German eagle, which stands with its sword raised above the chained Dutch lion, expresses the occupation. There is a robbery van in front of the town hall of Bedum. A prisoner is brought to this car under the eyes of powerless residents.
The right window is the liberation window. A victorious, rearing horse tramples the swastika. The eagle has been defeated and lies powerless on the ground. A tank can be seen behind the horse. At the top left, the liberating Orange sun rises above the tower of the N.H. church. At the top right, a still burning house expresses the suffering caused by the war.
