Memorial for Civilian Victims Bande

A special Gestapo unit was send to Bande to search for former resistance fighters originating from the region. On Christmas Eve 1944, 34 men of 35 were executed after a massive arrest and without any form of a process.

Only Léon Praille could escape and had to hide until the village was liberated on January 11, 1945. Then he brought the occupants to the place of carnage, the cellar. In the basement (Cave) is a crypt for the 34 assassinated.
