Stumbling Stones Franz-Ludwig-Straße 26

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
- Leopold Hessberg. Jg 1874. Deportiert 1942. Riga. Für tot erklärt. (Born 1874. Deported 1942. Riga. Legally declared dead.)
- Emma Hessberg. Née Rotbarsch. Born 1878. Deported 1942. Riga. Legally declared dead.
- Max Hessberg. Born 1903. Deported 1942. Majdanek. Murdered 23 Dec 1943.
- Hugo Marx. Born 1897. Deported 1942. Izbica. Murdered.
- Anna Marx. Née Kronacher. Born 1882. Deported 1942. Izbica. Murdered.

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were murdered by the National-Socialists, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
