Modlin Fortress Cemetery

In order to maintain the graves of German soldiers who were killed in Poland in the Second World War, their graves are brought together from hundreds of locations to 13 large German war cemeteries. This started in 1989 and is not ended yet.

Modlin Fortress Cemetery contains 2,591 German graves, including 400 WW1 casualties.

The Modlin fortress cemetery contains the graves of 119 unknown Polish soldiers who fell during the Battle of Modlin (14-29 September 1939). It also contains the graves of an unknown number of Russians who fell in the First World War.
