Tank Corps Memorial

The location for this memorial was chosen because it is close to the place where tanks were first used by the British army
during the fighting near Fles-Courcelette (15-22 September 1916).

The memorial was inaugurated in July 1922 by Lieutenant General Sir Thomas L.N. Morland, Commander of 10th Corps from 1915 to the end of the conflict.

On the front and back there are bronze plates with the places where the tanks were deployed during the years 1917 and 1918. (photos 1 & 2)

There is a bronze tank miniature on each corner. ((photos 3 & 4)

The fence consists of 6 pound tank guns connected by drive chains from the tanks. (photo 5)
