New Zealand Memorial

First World War memorial for the soldiers of the New Zealand Division.

At the end of a road there is a monument to the New Zealand troops on a hill.
It commemorates the New Zealand Division's participation in the Battle of the Somme in 1916. The New Zealand soldiers took part in the first tank battle between the village of Longueval and the Bois des Fourcaux (High Forest) and captured the village of Flers. They then took part in the capture of the Butte de Warlencourt.
