Trenches and Bunkers in the Travanaza Valley

The Travanaza Valley is located between the Lagazoui and the Tofane and at the foot of the Tofana Rozes.
This Valley was strategically because through this Valley an easy breakthrough was possible towards the North and thus against the Puster Valley.
On the left hand side of the Tofana Rozes there is a smaller mountain with the name Schreckenstein (Castalleto in Italian) and this mountain was a very important point because you had a good overview here on the Falzarego pass.
The Italians exploding a mine under this mountain in order to get possession of the mountain but they failed to do so.

There are lots of remains of trenches in the Travanaza Valley and there are a number of natural rocks that have been carved so that they were used as bunkers.

The Travanaza Valley and theSchreckenstein are reached via the Lagazoui or from the SS51 this is a walk of around 4 hours.
