Memorial Crystal Night Kleve

The Kristallnacht Monument in Kleve commemorates the destruction of the Kleve Synagogue during the night of 9–10 November 1938, known as Kristallnacht. During this Nazi-organised pogrom, synagogues, Jewish shops and homes were attacked and destroyed throughout Germany and Austria. In Kleve, the local synagogue was completely destroyed.

A memorial has now been erected on the site of the synagogue to commemorate the victims of that night. The monument is located on Synagogenplatz in Kleve and marks the location of the former synagogue. It serves as a lasting reminder of the events of Kristallnacht and its impact on the Jewish community in Kleve.

The monument is an important place of reflection and remembrance, and plays a role in keeping the memory of the tragic events of Kristallnacht alive. It reminds us of the need for tolerance and the importance of combating anti-Semitism and hatred.
