Air Raid Shelter Darmstadt-Knell

This air raid shelter (in German: Hochbunker) is of the Winkel-type. Up to about 600 employees could find shelter during bombardments. Most bunkers of this type have been build around 1936 on industrial sites. The steep roof was to ensure that bombs did not explode on the roof. About 200 bunkers of this type were build. In Darmstadt, two are located very close to each other.
