Memorial Wormhoudt Massacre Esquelbecq

At the D17 is the memorial that commemorates the victims of The Royal Warwickshire Regiment, The Cheshire Regiment and The Royal Artillery who were murdered in the Wormhoudt Massacre near this spot on 28 May 1940 in the Second World War.
Text on the monument:

TO THE GLORY OF GOD

AND IN MEMORY OF THE MEN
OF THE ROYAL WARWICKSHIRE REGIMENT
THE CHESHIRE REGIMENT
AND THE ROYAL ARTILLERY
WHO ON 28TH MAY 1940
WERE MASSACRED
IN A BARN NEAR THIS SPOT
ALSO OF THE MEN WHO WERE MURDERED
AS THEY WERE BEING MARCHED
TO THE BARN
