Memorial Charles Peguy

This memorial is standing on the spot where the famous French poet Charles Peguy fell on 5 September 1914.

In the local trench he died with over 100 comrades he led.
All the victims, French or German, were buried in a temporary mass grave a little further down the road in Le Grande Tombe.
