Resistance Cross Memorial

On the Groeperkade in Renswoude a plain white cross stands opposite restaurant "De Dennen". The cross bears a sign with the names of five resistance fighters who were executed here on November 14, 1944. The fusillade was a reprisal because of a raid on a German soldier on the Groeperkade in Renswoude on November 11, 1944. The German soldier lost his gun and was wounded but survived the attack.

Five resistance fighters were taken from the prison in Utrecht on November 14, 1944:

Fekko J. Ebbens
Matthijs van Ommeren
Christiaan F. F. Frohn
Pieter M. Oltmans
Andreas J. A. van Oijen

At half past one they were executed on the Groeperkade by a German firing squad.
