Maginot Line - Fort Simserhof

Simserhof Fort was built between 1929 and 1937. It was one of the most important forts of the Maginot-Line. It had a crew of 876 soldiers.

In 1940 the battle for Simserhof Fort took 50 days. The fort surrenderred on 30 June 1940, after orders to surrender from the French army-commanders.

In 2002 the fort was opened for the public.
