Long Max Museum

The Long Max site is a place not to be missed for the World War 1 tourist on the German side of the western front. A farmyard there is the central point of the historic tourist location. Several attractions make for a memorable visit.

In the brand new contemporary museum, visitors learn all about the huge cannon- Long Max - that was intended to shoot at Dunkirk. The German occupation of Koekelare also receives full attention in the museum. A unique photo exhibition gives a picture of the organization behind the front. The production of goods for the front turned at full speed in Koekelare.

The house in the farmyard served as a mess for the German officers. The bakery still contains traces of the German presence. From the farmyard a long alley leads to the site of the former artillery cannon Long Max.
