Group Shelter Type P Fort Ruigenhoek

The fort on Ruigenhoeksedijk in Groenekan was built in 1869-1870, northeast of Utrecht.
During the mobilization periods 1914-1918 and 1939-1940, the fort was expanded to support the infantry.
There were trenches, group shelters, observation posts and machine gun positions. There is also a bombproof barracks with storm stairs.
Opposite the entrance bridge is the former home of the fort guard.

Since 1997, the National Forest Service owns the fort.
