This fort was built in the period 1850-1871 and served as training center for the Hungarian Army from 1869 to 1943. It was served as refugee camp for Polish and French refugees (1939-1942) and temporary transit camp for Jews and Roma in 1944. Fort Monostor saw action in 1945.
