Memorial Werner Lorleberg

This memorial commemorates Oberstleutnant Werner Lorleberg who was responsible for the defence of Erlangen in 1945. He surrendered the town without putting up a fight to the U.S. army on 16 April 1945. He committed suicide that same day. Other sources are saying that he was murdered by fanatics within the army. He was found dead on this location.
