Westbatterij Muiden

The "Westbatterij Muiden (Western Battery Muiden)", type tower fort, was built in 1852 as part of the New Dutch Water Line (which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site). It was also part of the Stelling van Amsterdam (Defence Line of Amsterdam, which is also an UNESCO World Heritage Site).

The fort was mobilized in 1914-1918. During World War II, the Germans used the fort as emplacement for anti aircraft guns.
