Wellington Museum

The museum is located at the place where Wellington established his headquarters. In 1815 it was an inn along the road Brussels-Charleroi. Wellington spent the night her before the battle and stayed here in the days after the battle. After the battle, Wellington sent a message from here about the course of the battle and the outcome. The news reached London on 21 June. Because he drew up his telegram in Waterloo, the battle became known - especially in the Anglo-Saxon countries - as the "Battle of Waterloo", although the actual battlefield was located a couple of kilometres to the south. The museum in this building opened in 1955.
