Coxley Wesleyan Methodist Chapelyard contains one Commonwealth war grave from the Great War (World War I).
W.R. Parsons. Private. PO/16296. Portsmouth Division, Royal Marine Light Infantry. Died 30 Jan 1919. Aged 23.
Private Parson's father had been Rector at the Wesleyan Chapel. The Chapel has been a private residence since before the 1970s and the CWGC headstone sits in the middle of the lawn. Parson's had joined the RMLI in 1912 and served throughout WW1 onboard HM Battleships Bulwark and Zealandia and the cruiser HMS Royalist. He contracted some form of sickness at the end of the war and died in the Naval Hospital at Granton, near Edinburgh.
