Budapest Citadel

This hill and citadel were desperately defended by Waffen-SS forces during the Siege of Budapest (1944-1945). The German managed to repell several Soviet assaults. On 10 February 1945, the hill and citadel were captured after heavy fighting by Soviet marines.

The citadel today:
There is an open-air exhibition with Soviet artillerie pieces used in the Siege of Budapest. Entrance is free.
