New South Wales Memorial for the Missing

This memorial stands on the war cemetery located at Rookwood Necropolis.

It commemorates 746 men of the Australian Army, Royal Australian Air Force and Australian Merchant Navy who became missing in the south western part of the Pacific during the Second World War.

1939 - HERE ARE RECORDED THE NAMES OF THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO DIED IN THE EASTERN AND SOUTHERN REGIONS OF AUSTRALIA, ON LAND, AT SEA, AND IN THE AIR, BUT TO WHOM THE FORTUNE OF WAR DENIED THE KNOWN AND HONOURED BURIAL GIVEN TO THEIR COMRADES IN DEATH - 1945
