Fort Hoofddijk
Fort Hoofddijk is a fortress dating back to 1879. It formed part of the so called Nieuwe Hollandsche Waterlinie (New Hollandic Waterline), the defence line that employed land inundation tactics to stop the enemy forces. Nowadays the Fort is home to the Botanic Gardens of the University of Utrecht.
