Memorial Market Shelling

From 2 May 1992 on, Sarajevo was besieged by the Serbian Army during 1425 days. During that time, the city was hit by 329 grenades a day on average. Besides that, snipers were also active.
During the siege 11,541 residents, including 1,500 children, were killed and 56,000 injured.

On 5 Februari 1994, this market was hit by a mortar grenade and 67 people were killed. This memorial commemorates them.
