Halifax Citadel

Halifax Citadel was built in 1856. In the Second World War, it was used by the Canadian army as temporary barracks for troops on their way to Europa and as the commandcentre for the city's anti aircraft defences.

Nowadays it is a National Historic Site and can be visited.
