This memorial, in Brenchley Gardens, commemorates the 36th Engineer Regiment of Invicta Barracks, Maidstone which served in the war in Afghanistan.
"A soldier of 36 Engineer Regiment (Search) of Maidstone's Invicta Barracks
is depicted returning from a mission in Helmand Province Afghanistan and
represents a lasting tribute by the town to the members of the regiment
whose sacrifice and bravery is here by recognised and celebrated.
This statue was erected by public demand and subscription by
Maidstone Borough Council and was unveiled
on November 1st 2011 by the Commanding Officer
