Crash Site Avro Lancaster LL914 Rijssen

The Avro Lancaster LL914 was shot down by a Luftwaffe night fighter on 23 September 1944. Alle seven crew members were killed.

The hole in the row of trees at the end of the meadow indicates the exact crash location.

Commemorative plaques can be found at eight locations in the Municipality of Wierden where an airplane crashed in World War II. As part of the motto 'Lest we forget', this initiative was developed by Kees Kroon of the Historisch Kring Wederden in consultation with the municipality. It concerns eight crash locations plus the former V-1 launch track at Wierden.
