Fort Wool

This fort, originally named Fort Calhoun, was built on an artificial island, from 1817 to 1830. It was modernized in the 20th century and during the First and the Second World War it was part of the coastal defence of Hampton harbor.

Nowadays it is possible to visit the fort.
