Biography

During operation 'Alan', when entering 's-Hertogenbosch from the direction of Hintham, he was seriously injured by a grenade fragment and died in the truck that was taking him to a field hospital. He died in the arms of his - also injured - comrade Serjeant Albert Pearce, who had been the first witness at his wedding and married his widow after the war. Tildesley was born on 9-12-1919 in Ratbyi, Leicestershire and was a painter by profession.
Field grave on the Oude Kerkstraat, near the water tower in Oss. Reburied on 20-5-1946 at the British War Cemetery Uden.
