Flight engineer of Stirling bomber W7580 OJ-D, on the way back from a bombing mission to Duisburg (Germany), shot down by a German night fighter of I.(3.)/NJG 1 in Venlo and crashed along the Rijksweg, at the end of Koksteeg and Weerscheut near Vinkel.
The entire crew of seven men perished. The remains were badly mutilated and burned and were buried on July 24, 1942, in four coffins in the rectory garden next to the Roman Catholic St. Peter's Church in Uden, graves 29 through 32. Four names were deduced from the remains of clothing and equipment. When reburied at the British War Cemetery Uden on 21-6-1946 in collective grave 4.I.10-13, the entire crew was registered by name.
