Biography

Trooper Harold Philp worked in the hardrock mining business (qualified as driller & machine operator). He also worked as a farmer at some point. Philp was single when he enlisted on October 28, 1942 in Sudbury, Ontario. Philp served with 27th Armoured Regiment (The Sherbrooke Fusiliers Regiment) and landed in Normandy on 6 June 1944. He was captured and summarily executed by Waffen-SS soldiers the next day.
