Biography

Private James Webster, a Roman Catholic and unmarried, worked as a labourer before enlisting with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. After his transfer to England, he took part in the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944. Tragically, just one day after setting foot on French soil, Webster was captured and summarily executed by German forces.
