Biography

Ottor Treu entered service with the Wehrmacht in 1935. He was in Stalingrad in 1942 and was promoted to Leutnant in 1943. His brother Max Otto Erich Treu served also and was stationed in Kempten in 1943 and 1944. His brother Gerhard Wilhelm Albert Treu was killed in action near Orscha, Belarus in 1943. Brother Wilhelm Treu seved in Italy.

"At 3.30 hrs also the 10. Kompanie under the command of Oberfeldwebel Treu from the 9. Kompanie, followed the attack into the canyon. The small amount of men entered the canyon, houting hurraa and created space by throwing handgranades. The enemy resisted heavily, but by 3.45 the canyon was free of enemy soldiers, the communications within the company were restored and parts of the battalion Cronberg couGegen 3.30 Uhr tritt auch die 10.Kp. unter Führung des Ofw. Treu der 9. Kp. zum Angriff auf die Schlucht an. Die wenigen Männer dringen mit Hurragebrüll in die Schlucht ein und schaffen sich durch Handgranaten Luft. Der Gegner wehrt sich wild, aber um 3.45 Uhr ist die Schlucht feindfrei, die Verbindung innerhalb der Kp. hergestellt und die Teile des Btl. Cronberg können unbehelligt und ruhig in ihre Sturmausgangsstellung rücken. 42 Gefangene machten dabei die tapferen Stürmer, erbeuteten M.G. und viele Gewehre und über 20 tote Russen lagen in der Schlucht. Die 11. Kp. hat nun alle Teile gesammelt und rückt ab.d return to their bases.
