I am commanded by My Lords Commisioners of the Admiralty to inform you that the King has been graciously pleased to approve the award to you of the Distinguished Service Medal for courage, zeal and devotion to duty while serving in H. Nor. M. S. Ula in a daring and highly successful War Patrol.

The medal will be presented to you in due course.

The award will not be published in the London Gazette or, for reasons of security, in the Public Press. I am to ask you, however, whether you would have any objection to the publication of it in Admiralty Fleet Orders, which, though not secret, are issued for the information of the Navy only.
