In November 1944 the Gebirgsjäger-Feldersatz-Bataillon 79 was taken prisoner by Tito's partizans. Siegfried Dodel since then is reported missing in action. Eye witnesses have declared he was seen being executed on December 24th, 1944 in a quarry near Belgrade.
