Biography
In most American Archives and on his gravestone the wrong date of September 20th, 1944 is added as the date Ray M. Johnson wa killed. Ray Johnson was killed in actyion on the Keizer Karelplein in Nijmegen on September 17th, 1944 during the first attempt of 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment to conquer the Waalbridge. His body was recovered on September 20th, after the city of Nijmegen was cleared of enemy troops.
