Jack J Beste was the youngest of 6 children. He was born on June 6, 1922. All 6 children were born in Detroit Michigan. When Jack was 3, his father died of a heart attack. The family moved to Jackson Wyoming, where his mother was from. Months later they moved to Oregon, where she left them in a Catholic orphanage. She said she would come back later for the kids and they never saw her again. Jack's eldest brother, James, was in the Third Army under General George Patten. Brother Anthony was in the Canadian army. Jack J was not married and had no children. When he left the orphanage, he joined the army.
