“As the chief of staff to Panzergruppe Afrika, Generalmajor Gause has outstandingly distinguished himself during the heavy fighting in the time period 19.11.-01.12.1941. He contributed significantly to the total success of the Panzergruppe through the devotion to duty he displayed every day while under heavy enemy fire. In the absence of adequate means of communication the leadership took its place among the fighting troops in the foremost line.”
