"For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while serving as Gunner of a Machine Gun Crew of Company A, First Battalion, Twenty-fourth Marines, FOURTH Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on Tinian, Marianas Islands, the morning of 25 July 1944. When his unit was being subjected to an aggressive hostile counterattack and was receiving heavy fire from an enemy machine gun only fifty yards away, Private First Class Doster remained steadfast at his post and, although the hostile bullets were hitting the sandbags around his gun, continued to deliver rapid and accurate fire which annihilated the crew of the enemy gun. By his valiant action, he succeeded in killing over forty of the Japanese. Private First Class Doster's courage, determination and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service."
