Randall (38695011), United States Army, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with the 347th Infantry Regiment, 87th Infantry Division, in action against enemy forces on 26 March 1945.
After an assault crossing of the Rhine River, Private Randall and a group of companions advanced up the beach to join the rest of their company. Encountering severe enemy small arms fire, one of the men was seriously wounded and the remainder sought shelter in a nearby house.
