Iverson H. Thigpen was enlisted on July 25th, 1939 at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was send to the Pacific Theatre on March 5th, 1942 and arrived there on April 4th. He was in action at New Guinea and the Dutch East Indies. He left for the United States again on July 28th, 1945, to arrive there on August 13th.
Iverson Thigpen was honorably discharged on August 20th, 1945 at the Seperation Center Fort McPherson, Georgia.
