Biography

Major Frederick C. Kellam, commanding officer of the 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment was killed June 6th, 1944, by a mortar bomb during the defense of the bridge across the River Merderet near La Fière in France. The bridge was subsequently named "Kellam Bridge".
