"For heroic achievement in action on 10 November 1944, near La Guarda, Italy. When positions occupied by Cannon Company were subjected to an intense enemy artillery barrage, which wounded several men, Technical Sergeant BULL moved coolly among his men, directing them to cover. While doing this, he was painfully wounded. Refusing medical treatment, he administered first aid to two other soldiers wounded by the same burst and assisted in treating several other injured soldiers. Only after all had been safely evacuated did he seek medical attention for himself. Technical Sergeant BULL'S courageous and determined action in the face of the great personal danger was an inspiration to his comrades and reflects great credit on himself and on the Armed Forces of the United States. Entered military service from Clark, South Dakota." Wm. G. Livesay Major General, U.S. Army, Commanding
