Biography

Rejean (Regean) was born on September 29 1923 in Toronto, the son of Joseph Thomas Dallaire and Gilberte Dallaire (both French Canadians) of Ottawa. They were married on October 27 1921 in Moonbeam Ontario.
His brothers were Laval (RCAF overseas) and Raymond Dallaire and his sister Raymonde Dallaire stayed in a convent.

He had a steady girl friend during 9 months.

He was a clerk and member of the Roman Catholic Church. He spoke and read English and French. His sports were hockey, rugby and swimming (dives from a height op 75 feet). His hobby was reading extensively history, historical novels and geography etc. He could drive automobiles and motorcycles and make minor repairs.

Dallaire joined the Canadian Army in December 1941 and about a year after he joined as parachutist with the Canadian Parachute Battalion (C.P.B.). Dallaire trained at Fort Benning and Camp Shilo before he was posted overseas in June 1943. He was assigned to Calgary Highlanders, R.C.I.C. (Pte) in 1945 after being injured in a jump overseas.

Rejean was killed in action on Sunday April 15 1945 age 21 during the liberation of the town of Groningen.

He served with the Calgary Highlanders.
