"This Officer was in command of a section of 'I' Tanks and 4 Tanks, under command of BEAUMAN Division. On June 9, he did invaluable work in counter attack and slowing up an advance of enemy infantry who har crossed the R.SEINE.
After being hit several times his tank was eventually crippled by enemy anti-tank fire.He extricated all undamaged tanks from this engagement and subsequently showed great initiative and endurance in getting them safely to CAEN where they were entrained. Throughout the operations he showed conspicious initiative, fighting spirit, and devotion to duty."

Citation:
"For operations against enemy infantry who had crossed the river Seine. His tank having been hit several times by anti tank fire was eventually crippled and he extricated his crew under heave SA fire and got them into other tanks and extracted to Caen. MC awarded immediately."
