Biography

Was mobilize with the in 122 Regiment d'Infanterie in september 1939 and served "Corps Francs", assault troop. On 20th May 1940 he was taken prisoner. After he escaped, he went to Great Brittain where he was hospitalized.
In July 1940 he joined the FFL in and served in the 1ere cie d'infanterie aéroportée in january 1941.

He followed a training course at Exbury from15th May 1941 until 16th July 1941. He boarded the ss. Cameronian on 21st July 1941 bounded for the Middle-East. He took part in the fightings near Kabrit from 2nd January 1942 and fought at the Airfield of Berka 3 on the 12th and 13th June 1942. After that he was engaged in the defense of El-Alamein. On 7th July 1942 he took part in the ambush near the coastal road an defended the airfields of El Daba on the 12th July 1942. From 20th August until 13th October 1942 he took part in Operation Snowdrop. Between 10th December 1942 and 25th April 1943, the 1st C.C.P. was back in England and regrouped at Camberley in August 1943. Then he joined the 4th SAS with whom he took part in the operations:
Samwest : second wave 9th June 1944 - 12th June 1944.
Spenser : 26th August 1944 - 14th September 1944 with Squadron 2.
Franklin: 24th December 1944 - 30th January 1945 with command Squadron.
Amherst : from 4th April with 12/3rd Squadron, 4th SAS where he was wounded during assault on Westerbork, the Netherlands, 8th April 1945 and was captured.
