    Biography

    Albert Bloemink was born on January 29th, 1911 as the son to Johannes Wouter Antonie Bloemink (1877 - 1920) and Hendrika Alberta Bloemink (Schreurs) (1876 - 1927). He was the brother to Johan Bloemink.

    He was one of the primary 25 Dutchmen who were trained at the Commando School in Achnacarry, Scotland. He joined the Army in 1942, was trained in Canada and Scotland and joined in England the No. 2 (Dutch) Troop, No. 10 (Inter Allied) Commando.
    During Market Garden he landed with the 82nd Airborne Division near Nijmegen and joined the No. 47 Royal Marines Commando for Operation Infatuate II, the landings at Westkapelle.

    Albert Bloemink passed away on September 10th, 1991.
