Biography

Enter the Maquis in Chambon la Forêt, a forest near Orléans and member of the Paul company (led by captain Gramond) in the maquis in Lorris.
Took part in the liberation of Châteauneuf sur Loire, the region South of the River Loire and the liberation of Paris.
Enlisted in the 4th SAS / 2nd RCP in September 1944 in Nevers.
Parachute training in Ringway (course 143-B) from 22 November to 11th December 1944 : wounded the 4th december 1944 : awarded the FFL Parachute badge n°2258
Saw action in Amherst from 4th April to 20th April 1945 with the 4th Bataillon SAS - 2nd RCP : 6km of the Dropping Zone 410 (Stick 11 led by sous-lieutenant Simon and Aspirant Bornhauser)
Severely WIA near Westdorp the 8th April 1945 after being denounced and attacked by German paratroopers, captured.
Liberated by Canadian troops and evacuated to Great Britain the 20th May 1945.
Amputated of 1 leg in 1948, he became a lawyer after the war.

By his actions having participated in the liberation of the Netherlands and hence having served the interests of the Dutch State.
