"For his exemplary performance of tasks in the rear of the enemy. He demonstrated steadfastness, courage and heroism in battles with the German fascist invaders."
On the night of October 10, 1942, on the 4th kilometer of the Krasnodar-Novorossiysk railway, together with his younger brother, Yevgeniy Ignatov blew up a German train transporting over 400 German soldiers. Both brothers were killed in the skirmish.
