"Distinguished himself through courageous action against the enemy by crossing over to Lombok with several other soldiers after the enemy had captured Kendari Airport (Celebes) in early 1942, with the aim of continuing to participate in the fight, and by voluntarily making himself available on Sumbawa in early April 1942.
He distinguished himself through his fearless and decisive actions, during which he was killed in action."
